Very exciting about the book. Where was the photo of the horse armour used on the info page taken? Looks a fantastic place! — Asked by trivialrecords

Hi! The picture is from the Landeszeughaus (Arsenal) in Graz, Austria. There is a video tour of the museum here, but it’s in German. The official English site is here.

If you are interested too, as part of the same project the book is springing forth from, there will be a conference (in English!) called “Does war belong in a museum? Representations of violence in exhibitions”. It has been organised in reaction to problems the Zeughaus has faced with it’s current display of really thousands and thousands of weapons and armour displayed in a kind of open storage, row after row after row. There is an exhibition on the first floor which talks a little about warfare and who was fighting who, but then there are really 3 floors of weapons without written interpretation (but some very informative and enthusiastic volunteers and gallery assistants!) I am hoping to be there myself!
