Dear Museumsandstuff followers,

I am so sorry that I haven’t been very present in the last couple of weeks, things have been very hectic! It might take another few days before I’m back posting, but I wanted to keep you up to date, lest you think I have forsaken you!

I went on a research trip to the UK, visiting and interviewing curators at Kelvingrove, Wellcome Centre, the new Museum of Liverpool (not even open yet!) and the Imperial War Museum North for a book that will be out in Autumn from the Museumsakdemie in Graz. Unbelievably, I also found time to go to the Isle of Wight Festival with my mum, sister and friends. In between, I shopped (clothing is much cheaper in the UK than Austria) and ate copious amounts of English food that I can’t get hold of in Vienna.

Now I am back in Vienna, and not only do I have to transcribe the approx. 7 hours of interview, but it’s the end of the uni semester and we have been putting the finishing touches to an exhibition I’ve helped with as part of a seminar in the European Ethnography Department of the University of Vienna. The Exhibition looks at objects from the museum’s Jewish collection and asks what makes them Jewish and questions why they were collected in the ways they were. It’s called “Von Dreideln, Mazzes und Beschniedungsmessern: Jüdisch Dinge im Museum” at the Museum of Austrian Folk Life and Art, Vienna. Oh, and I have a day job!

So, dear Tumblrists and other followers, I hope you can bear with me a little longer whilst I wrap these things up. I sign off with a promise to be back with lots of original material as soon as possible.

PS. It’s not all work and no play. Whilst in England I discovered History Cold Case. Love!
